Casino Affiliate

A casino affiliate is a third-party website that earns commission by referring players to online casinos. When you click a partner link from an affiliate site and register (or deposit), the affiliate is paid — usually as a revenue share of the operator’s take from you, sometimes as a one-time CPA (cost per acquisition).

How the model works

• Rev-share: 25-50% of the operator’s Net Gaming Revenue from the referred player, paid monthly, often lifetime.
• CPA (Cost Per Acquisition): fixed payment (€50-500) when a referred player makes a qualifying deposit.
• Hybrid: smaller CPA + smaller rev-share.

What this incentivises

• Rev-share affiliates benefit when their referrals lose long-term. Structural conflict of interest with player advocacy.
• CPA affiliates benefit from volume regardless of player outcome. Less conflict but pressure to convert.
• Data-driven ranking (like CasiMath): affiliate income exists, but rankings are computed from measurable inputs (EV, wagering multipliers) that don’t reward operator payouts.

Common affiliate practices

• Ranking based on payout: many “top 10 casinos” lists are ordered by which operator pays the affiliate the most, not by quality.
• Hidden operator ownership: some affiliate sites are owned or partly owned by casino operators.
• Cookie-based tracking: the affiliate link sets a cookie; commission attribution runs 30-90 days.
• Sub-affiliate networks: some affiliates recruit further affiliates and take a cut of downstream commissions.

Regulatory status

Affiliates operating in regulated markets (UKGC, MGA, iGO, DGA) are subject to advertising standards — same rules as the operators. UKGC requires clear affiliate disclosure. MGA requires responsible-gambling messaging on affiliate sites.

Offshore-facing affiliates (targeting non-regulated markets) face fewer explicit rules but still fall under the operator’s own compliance framework.

How to read affiliate content critically

• Look for the disclosure page. No disclosure = red flag.
• Search for negative reviews. A “10 best casinos” list where every entry has a 9+ rating is marketing, not analysis.
• Cross-check with AskGamblers / Casino Guru. If an affiliate list ranks Casino X at #1 but AskGamblers shows repeated unresolved complaints, ignore the affiliate list.
• Check the ranking criteria. If criteria aren’t published, the ranking is opaque.
