Reels

The vertical columns of a slot that spin and stop to display symbols. Modern video slots use 3, 5, 6, or 7 reels. The five-reel three-row grid (5×3) is the industry default.

More reels create more possible combinations but also more randomization noise per spin, generally pushing volatility higher.

Reel count alone doesn’t tell you much about a slot’s math — RTP, volatility, and bonus mechanics matter more.
